REG 13 Results and Forfeitures (Walkovers) | Updated 11 October

REG 13 applies to the Team Championships conducted as part of the National, Premier and Conference League/Knockout programme.

REG 13.1 The results of all league and knockout competition matches must be recorded on BUCS Play no later than 12:00 on the first working day following the fixture.

REG 13.1.1 Results for any knockout competition matches not entered in accordance with REG 13.1 shall automatically incur a £10 fine per occurrence.

REG 13.1.2 Institutions/Playing Entities persistently found to be in contravention of REG 13.1 may face disciplinary action.

REG 13.2 Results of ‘home’ fixtures can be submitted on BUCS Play by either the home team captain or an Institution Administrator, but in the case of those entered by team captains, approval will be required from an Institution Administrator.

REG 13.3 Whilst institutions/Playing Entities can only submit results of ‘home’ fixtures on BUCS Play, institutions/Playing Entities are responsible for ensuring that the results of all their matches (‘home’ and ‘away’) are correctly recorded on BUCS Play.

REG 13.3.1 If an institution/Playing Entity believes the result of an ‘away’ match has been entered incorrectly, or has been omitted, by their opposition, they should contact that institution/Playing Entity in the first instance (who should follow REG 13.5) and the BUCS Executive thereafter if the ‘home’ institution/Playing Entity has failed to respond or action their request. Contact with the BUCS Executive MUST be made BEFORE the results submission deadline, as outlined in Appendix 2 (‘BUCS Leagues and Knockouts – Dates and Deadlines’).

REG 13.3.1.1 If, within the five working days preceding the results submission deadline, the ‘away’ institution/Playing Entity is required to request submission or correction of any results by the BUCS Executive due to a lack of action from the ‘home’ institution/Playing Entity (and a breach of REG 13.1 – not entered by 12:00 the first working day following the fixture), the ‘home’ institution/Playing Entity will incur a £100 fine per fixture.

REG 13.4 Falsification of results Institutions/Playing Entities must not falsify results. For example, where a match has not taken place, a result should not be recorded on BUCS Play. In such a scenario, the fixture be rearranged, left to go void, or a walkover should be claimed/conceded and then recorded on BUCS Play. An institution/Playing Entity proven to have falsified a result on BUCS Play shall face disciplinary action.

REG 13.5 Process for amending incorrectly entered results In order to amend any incorrectly inputted ‘home’ fixture results, an Institution Administrator must submit a result change request on BUCS Play. Amendments will not be visible until approved by the BUCS Executive.

REG 13.5.1 League fixtures For league matches other than those affected by the result entry deadline (REG 13.6) there is a two week period within which amendments may be requested free of charge. Amendments to league match results requested beyond the two week period will incur a £10 administrative charge.

REG 13.5.2 Knockout competition fixtures Amending incorrectly entered knockout competition match results (after the deadline of REG 13.1 has passed) will incur the following administrative charges (payable by the ‘home’ institution/Playing Entity unless otherwise indicated):

Incorrect score that DOES NOT alter the team progressing to the following round:

£5

Incorrect score that DOES alter the team progressing to the following round:

£25 if amendment requested more than 10 working days before the following round;

£50 if amendment requested within 6-10 working days before the following round;

£100 and liable for any fixture costs incurred by the next round opposition if amendment requested within 5 working days before the following round;

£250 EACH, liable for any fixture costs incurred by the next round opposition and, where applicable, forfeit of home hosting of next round fixture if NO AMENDMENT REQUESTED BY EITHER INSTITUTION INVOLVED in the fixture in question before the following round.

REG 13.5.3 Institutions/Playing Entities persistently found to be entering incorrect results may face administrative charges and/or disciplinary action.

REG 13.6 League results entry/amendment deadline Institutions/Playing Entities will not be able to request additions or amendments to any league fixture results after the league result submission deadline has passed. This deadline will be outlined in Appendix 2 (‘BUCS Leagues and Knockouts – Dates and Deadlines’). Following this deadline all BUCS leagues will be locked and no further requests accepted. No further correspondence shall be entered into in this regard by the BUCS Executive.

REG 13.6.1 Any matches without a result on BUCS Play shall be listed as void, with no points awarded to either team.

REG 13.6.2 Correction of league placement as a result of incorrect or missing results will not be permitted post the result submission deadline, as outlined in Appendix 2 (‘BUCS Leagues and Knockouts – Dates and Deadlines’).

REG 13.7 Forfeited matches (Walkovers) A forfeited match will be deemed to have been caused by voluntary or involuntary circumstances. A voluntary walkover is deemed to have occurred when it is believed that reasonable actions undertaken by the team, club or Athletic Union (or equivalent) of the offending institution/Playing Entity would have prevented the forfeit. An involuntary walkover is deemed to have occurred when it is considered (whether by the BUCS Executive or the BUCS Disciplinary Panel) that a team has forfeited on a fixture through reasons beyond the reasonable control of that team, club or Athletic Union (or equivalent).

REG 13.7.1 In the first instance all walkovers will be deemed voluntary. For a walkover to be considered involuntary, an institution/Playing Entity must submit a BUCS Involuntary Walkover Pro Forma (Appendix 9), along with any supporting evidence, to discipline@bucs.org.uk no later than 24 hours (outside of weekends and bank holidays) after notification of the walkover being claimed/conceded as per REG 13.7.3.

REG 13.7.1.1 A team deemed to have conceded an involuntary walkover will, in normal circumstances, be deemed to have forfeited the match, but in the case of league fixtures will not be deducted any league points (note REG 8.3.6.2). Further penalties outlined in REG 13.7.5.1 – REG 13.7.5.5 may be waived as determined by the BUCS Executive or the BUCS Disciplinary Panel.

REG 13.7.2 An institution/Playing Entity claiming a walkover must notify the opposition of this, in writing (email), including stating the reason and regulation(s) under which the walkover is being claimed, before the walkover is entered on BUCS Play.

REG 13.7.3 An institution/Playing Entity has 24 hours (outside of weekends and bank holidays) following notification of a walkover being claimed/conceded to appeal against that walkover (REG 15), or to apply to have the walkover deemed involuntary (REG 13.7.1).

REG 13.7.4 Where a team has forfeited a league match it is imperative that a walkover is entered and awarded to the appropriate team on BUCS Play by the league result submission deadline (REG 13.6).
