BUCS Regulation Clarification

BUCS would like to clarify Regulation 7.1 in light of recent discussions at the BUCS Advisory Group meeting due to changes in the funding mechanisms for some students undertaking higher education courses based at Further Education Colleges

It has been brought to our attention that in some cases students that are studying for a Higher Education qualification at a Further Education College (FEC) are no longer funded indirectly through a University.  The funding is now direct to the Further Education College and as such the student control numbers reside with the college.  This means that these specific students are now no longer internally registered with a university, their responsibility now lies with the College and therefore they cannot play in BUCS competitions.

BUCS regulations currently enable FEC’s to apply for BUCS membership and as such participate in BUCS competition providing their students are undertaking courses of higher education and meet the requirements laid out in the BUCS handbook.
