BUCS Rugby League Final heads to Headingly

British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) are pleased to announce that the 2012 BUCS Rugby League Championship Final supported by the RFL will be held at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, home of the Leeds Rhino’s, and shown live on Premier Sports channel 433.

BUCS Rugby League Final 2012On Thursday 22nd March Leeds Met Carnegie and Loughborough will travel to Leeds determined to leave as champions. Last year’s winners Leeds Met Carnegie will be looking to defend their title but first they face the a stern challenge from last years runners-up Loughborough.

Kick off is at 7.30pm with gates opening at 6.00pm. If you are unable to get to the Headingly Carnegie Stadium for the final you can see all of the action live on Premier Sports. Premier Sports Executive Producer Neal Coupland said, ‘Premier Sports is delighted to broadcast the BUCS Championship Final amongst the fine selection of Rugby League it has on the channel this year. Last year University Rugby League served up a thrilling series of games for Premier Sports viewers and I’m sure this year’s final will make equally compelling viewing”.

RFL Director Participation, David Gent said, “The finals evening features the best sides in Student Rugby League going head to head and promises to be a great event. We’re delighted that the BUCS final will be televised at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, providing the opportunity for a wider audience to see just how good the standard of university rugby league is, and it will add even more to the occasion for those attending on the day”.

Tickets to the BUCS Rugby League Championship Final are available at just £3 per person and will be available to purchase on the gate. Join us in Leeds or tune in to Premier Sports to be entertained by some of the best young rugby league players in the country.

 


Semi Final Results:

The Championship Semi Finals took place in Sheffield as part of the BUCS Championships (www.thebucschampionship.co.uk)  

In the BUCS Rugby League Trophy Final Northumbria beat Edge Hill 34-4 to win the gold and Sheffield Hallam triumphed 38-14 over Glamorgan in the BUCS Rugby League Shield final to please the local following. Leeds Met Carnegie and Loughborough both emerged victorious in their respective BUCS Rugby League Championship semi finals and will now face each other on Thursday 22nd March at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, home of Leeds Rhinos, and live on premier Sports in the Championship Final. Tickets will be available on the gates next Thursday from 6pm, the match kicks off at 7.30pm.

Northumbria 34 - 4 Edge Hill

BUCS Sheild Final:

Sheffield Hallam 38 - 14 Glamorgan
