International Sport

A number of opportunities exist within the BUCS International Programme for hosting sports and educational events in the UK.

The main opportunities include :

• FISU Forum (educational event)
• EUSA European University Championships
• FISU World University Championships

An overview of these events can be seen below. Additional opportunities exist around other specific meetings, commissions and events.

FISU Forum

• Biennial conference event; next to be attributed is 2016
• To discuss contemporary issues in student sport
• 200+ delegates from 50+ countries
• 5-6 days in duration
• Each country has 2 appointed student places, and 2 appointed staff places

EUSAEUSA European University Championships
From : Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3x3, Beach-Volleyball, Football, Futsal, Golf, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7s , Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, and Volleyball
 
• Single-sport events
• Take place in ‘odd years’ : 2017, 2019, 2021
• Entrants are Universities
• ‘Champions League events’ for the Top-4 finishers in domestic University competition
• Attributed about 15 months ahead, via BUCS
• Next bids will be sought in 2014 for events in 2017
• BUCS will accept bids from Universities, Cities and/ or NGBs

From : Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3x3, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Canoe Slalom, Canoe Sprint, Cross Country, Cycling, Equestrian, Futsal, Golf, Hockey, Karate, Long Track Speed Skating, Match Racing (Sailing), Netball, Orienteering, Rowing, Rugby 7s, Shooting, Squash, Taekwondo, Triathlon, Water Skiing, Weightlifting & Wrestling

• Single-sport events
• Take place in ‘even years’ : 2016, 2018, 2020
• Entrants are National Teams
• Attributed 2yrs ahead, via BUCS
• Next bids will be sought in 2013 for events in 2016
• The bidding University or City must have full NGB and Government support
• Delivered to a tightly-regulated and very high standard
• Event delivery costs require substantial funding support
