FA Small Sided Development Funding

The Winchester Student Union became the first BUCS supported university to receive the new FA Small Sided Development Fund, securing £2,000 for the development of Intra Mural football at the university.

Working in partnership with BUCS and the Hampshire County FA the University of Winchester plan to develop three divisions of student Intra Mural football competitions led by a team of student volunteers and officials. In addition the University will utilise the FA Full Time system for league administration having received training from the Hampshire County FA.

Speaking on behalf of the Student Union Rhea West Sports and Societies Administrator commented:

"We are delighted to have received this funding from the Football Association. The University of Winchester are very excited about developing this new provision for our students and working with BUCS and the Hampshire County FA has been extremely useful to us.

Neil Jolliffe Football Development Officer at Hampshire added; "it is great news that the University of Winchester have been awarded this funding. There is a clear need to develop social football at the University and this development work will contribute significantly towards the FA National Game Strategy in terms of creating new opportunities for players whilst also developing the student workforce. I look forward to working with them over the coming months."

"I'm delighted to hear that Winchester Student Union have been successful in receiving the FA Small Sided Development Funding. This is exciting since this is the first intra mural football activity to be developed at the university and also demonstrates excellent partnerhsip working between the unvierstiy, BUCS and Hampshire County FA."
