The World University Games takes place between 1 - 12 July 2009 in Belgrade, Serbia. Great Britain will send a delegation of 196 to Belgrade to compete in Men's & Women's Football, Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Volleyball, Fencing, Judo, Tennis, Gymnastics, Archery, Taekwondo, Swimming and Diving

Beth Tweddle qualified for the finalls of uneven bars and floor.
Nina Dearman qualified for the all-round finals
Fencing
Jayne Crook (St George’s), Mary Cohen (Kings College), Hannah Lawrence (Manchester) and Corina Lawrence (Kings) were all knocked out of the women’s individual Epee competition while Alex O’Connell (Cambridge) fared no better in the men’s Sabre. Cohen and Crook made it through to the last 32 of the competition while the two Lawrence’s failed to qualify for the knockout part of the competition. O’Connell made it through to the last 64 of the Sabre competition but lost out to Spaniard Perez Garrote Raul 15-11.
