Individual Championships 2007
The BUSA Individual Table Tennis Championships were held at the Jubilee Sports Centre at the University of Nottingham on 17-18 February 2007.
There were entrants from 40 universities with players from 10 countries as well as all the Home Countries.
In the Men's Doubles Shaun Marples/Craig Gascoyne (Sheffield Hallam) were thwarted in their attempt to retain the trophy from last season. Adam Bleakley/Stephen Denny (Leeds) took the title 16-14 in the fifth game.
Marples had a better run in the Men's Singles beating Chris Brown (UWIC) in 5 games in the final. The number 2 seed Greg Baker had withdrawn through injury and the number 1 seed Adam Bleakley lost in 5 games to Chris Brown at the quarter final stage.
There was a reversal of the seeding in the Women's Singles where the number 2 Abigail Embling (Essex) beat the number 1 Egle Adomelyte (Middlesex) over 4 games. Abigail took the Women's Doubles with Grace Brown with a win over Liz May and Zuzanna Ximny (Plymouth).
Adomelyte had better luck in the Mixed Doubles proving victorious with partner Jade Blasse over Harry Cutler and Liz May of Plymouth.
In the inaugural Plate event Blasse took home the Men's award, with Nan Lian of Imperial triumphing in the Women's.
