Snowsports Super Weekender
09/11/2011The world biggest dry slope event returns this Friday 11th November and once again promises to be an unforgettable weekend for all involved. More than 1000 competitors representing 70 universities will commence battle in two huge days of competition, all hoping to be crowned champion of their event.
The 2011 British Universities Dry Slope Championships (BUDS) kicks off this Friday morning on Britain’s longest dry ski slope at Midlothian Snowsports Centre in Edinburgh.The UK’s universities best skiers and snowboarders will be looking to show off their well honed talent in a number of events including the BUCS Slalom and Giant Slalom competitions. Spectators will also be gripped with the skills on show in the Big Air, Boarder-X and Team Dual Slalom events taking place throughout the two days.
More than 2000 students are expected to attend this epic weekend which in addition to the quality competition on display offers just as much in entertainment. Friday night will see the Ocean Terminal Shopping centre turned into a super club with Radio 1 DJ’s Jaymo and Andy George providing the tunes, and the event culminates on Saturday night with the eagerly anticipated BUDS Ball.
