BUCS Announces Shortlist for 2012 Awards

The BUCS Awards Dinner, in association with PwC, is our opportunity to recognise and celebrate the very best of university sport, we are very pleased to announce the shortlisted nominees for this year’s BUCS Awards.

From all the nominations submitted by our members a judging panel headed by BUCS Chief Executive Karen Rothery have shortlisted the following nominees in each category;

BUCS Sportsman of the Year
Jonny Brownlee – University of Leeds
Graeme Thomas – University of Manchester
Robin Williams – University of Exeter
 
BUCS PwC Sportswoman of the Year
Rebecca Guy – University of Manchester
Ciara Horne – University of Birmingham
Isobel Pooley – University of Nottingham

Kukri ‘For The Team’ Award (Team of the Year)
University of Exeter Men’s Hockey 1st Team
University College London Women’s Rugby Team
University of Surrey Men’s Rugby 1st Team

Student Volunteer of the Year
Thomas Doig – University of Leeds
Stephen McMahon – Middlesex University
Will Turner – University of Nottingham

BUCS PwC Unsung Hero
Christopher Penn – Swansea University
Nick Wilkinson – Loughborough University

Diversity in Sport Award
Relays – Universities South West (Collaboration of 11 Universities)
Kyle Wedgewood – University of Nottingham

The winners will be announced at the 2012 BUCS Awards Dinner which takes place on Thursday 12 July at the University of Exeter's Forum as part of our annual conference. This year the evening will be hosted by Olympic Medalist and BBC Olympic Swimming Correspondent Steve Parry. Parry will be joined by 2003 World Cup Winner, British Lion and former England Rugby Captain Lewis Moody for the after dinner speech and presentations of BUCS Awards.
