Sally Edie Awarded MBE
03/01/08Sally Edie, Head of Sports Programmes and Sports Development at the University of Surrey, has been awarded an MBE for her services to higher education and to sport in the New Years Honours List.

The Southern Universities are the English Universities Regional Champions after an exciting penalties victory over Northern Universities thanks to Goalkeeper, Paul Tassell’s (UWE Hartpury) sudden death winner. The Regional tournament took place at Warwick University with 65 players and 16 members of staff attending. The tournament was a real success and showcased the talent in the HE sector from the Northern, Midlands and Southern Representative Squads.

91-year-old Ivor Powell was awarded an MBE for services to sport in the 2008 New Year Honours list. The former Welsh international footballer, who played for Aston Villa, Queen’s Park Rangers and Blackpool, has worked as a football coach at the University of Bath for more than 30 years.
